The countdown is on for the Friends of Gartside Gardens annual funday.

This free fun-filled extravaganza returns this year to Kincardine Road from 12:00-4:00pm on Saturday, August 15.

Stalls and attractions will be lined up in true ‘Street Festival’ style this year, starting at Elizabeth Yarwood Court where a falconry display will be there all afternoon, offering the chance to get up close to beautiful birds of prey.

Continuing down Kincardine Road and past the park, you will find an inflatable mega-slide, bouncy castles, face painting and a rodeo bull among the highlights, finishing up at the Wai Yin Chinese Centre where visitors can savour delights from the BBQ.

And this year, everyone can experience ‘live’ chainsaw art from Karl, who will be demonstrating his carving skills using wood from the park. Landmark sculptures have been designed in a competition by children from Medlock School and these will appear in the park once completed.

As well as fun activities for all the family, there will also be stalls with food, plant making, football and live music.

Craig Eastham, Chair of the Friends of Gartside Gardens, said: “Our annual party event is a great way of bringing members of the local community together.

“Our event was extremely popular last year and with so many great activities taking place, it promises to be another fun-filled day for the whole family.

“So why not come along and join in the fun – we are hoping to make this a permanent fixture in people’s diaries for many more years to come”.
